POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Advocate is a vital link among the LPP students, the Director, and the Associate Director. The Student Advocate fosters a program environment conducive to the academic, social, and personal development of students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Motivating students collectively and individually to achieve academic success through encouraging, advising, and planning strategies.
Providing academic assistance to students including tutoring, homework assistance, and exam review in all subject areas, and assistance in standardized test preparation.
Encouraging student completion and reviewing of PLP's and SEA's to drive individual case management.
Monitoring student attendance and reaching out to students who are absent from assigned LPP classes or not receiving services. This intervention is pivotal to program/student success.
Serving as mentors to the LPP students.
Providing services in all program elements as directed by the NYS Education Department.

Performs a variety of related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree
NYS Teaching Certification preferred
An interest in, and commitment to, academic achievement in high school students
An understanding of and comfort with culturally diverse populations
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability are essential
Pay Range: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
